I Pirated a Pirate
Among the 353.53 gigabytes of completely legal material I’ve downloaded in the past few months was around 100 megabytes of illegal material. I downloaded an album by Nelly Furtado titled ‘loose’. After a week or so of listening to the material and enjoying it, I went and bought the real, legal album. I was being a good person, I was being a consumer.
Yesterday my RSS reader refreshed to inform me that I had spent money and supported an artist who copied someone else (not the pretty thing on the front of the album cover, thank goodness, instead Timbaland, the producer, had lifted a significant amount of material of a pre-existing track)
Where do I sign up to get my refund?
(if you want to find out more watch this video on youtube)
